Nationally recognized, the Plano Jazz Studies program produces highly skilled and musically acute
jazz musicians well-versed in the jazz idiom. From big band, to be-bop, from ensemble playing to soloing,
the Plano Jazz Studies Program and it's Jazz Ensemble are among the finest in the nation.

This is the house that jazz built and now that house has been honored for the second time in 5 years with an invitation-only
performance opportunity in New York at the Lincoln Center featured at "the Cadillac of high school jazz competitions."

Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is a premier performing ensemble within the Wind Studies program. With a full complement of instruments,
the Symphonic Band performs various repertoire including original wind compositions, arranged classical music, light music, and
popular tunes. The group is a consistent superior and excellent rated ensemble. In 2008, the Symphonic Band premiered two student
compositions entitled "A Day at the Circus" by Bart Pushaw ('08) and "Apologetic Memory" by Andrew Plott ('08).

Wind Ensemble
Serving as the flagship of the Wind Studies Program, the Wind Ensemble is one of the nation's leading high school
performing groups. Its core, representing the strongest musicians in the
Plano Cluster Band Program, holds a distinguished reputation for high
musical performance standards and achievement. The group perfoms a wide variety of the finest wind literature including
repertoire classics, contemporary compostitions, as well as serving as a leader in new music consortiums. In 2007, the Wind Ensemble
was named a 5A National Wind Honor Band,
ranking them among fifth in the nation

Concert Band 1
The Concert 1 Band has gained a reputation for raising the standard of performance and creating exceptional musicians. Through inspirational
performances, the group presents the highest level of spirit, cooperation, and fellowship. The Concert 1 Band provides wonderful musical
experiences for its members through the programming and performing of standard band curricula such as overtures, marches, standard repertoire, and
pop music.

Concert Band 2
The Concert 2 Band will mark 2009-2010 as its first year of existence. Much pride and anticipation await our newest group. This hard
working group will be structured and designed to be very educational for the students and rewarding for the
community. Ready to perform challenging pieces, the Concert 2 Band will prove that there is something special about getting to perform with
great friends, producing wonderful music, sounding good, and getting a great round of applause from very enthusiastic audiences.

One of the most diverse high school percussion programs in the nation, Plano Percussion offers percussion education and performance in
applied lessons, chamber ensembles, method classes, drumline, symphonic and orchestral percussion, steel band, and world percussion.
